RB Pierre Thomas, who has been nursing a sprained MCL in his right knee since Aug. 22, had something else to worry about this week as he tried to return for the season opener. Payton said Thomas cut his right knee on a fence over the Labor Day weekend while trying to get to his mini Doberman, Chill, after it became entangled in its chain. Thomas said the laceration required six stitches, but both he and Payton said the real issue is with the knee. Thomas said he suffered the cut when he had to squeeze through the fence to get to his dog. "He was sitting there crying and he couldn't move because his chain was wrapped around him," Thomas said. "I really couldn't get to him, so I squeezed through the gate and a sharp piece got me."
